What's in a Name?

Momma. Mimi. Auntie. Nanny. See-sah. Elissa.

That's me.

There have been a lot of names thrown around.  And we discuss our names often.  So often in fact that we made a rule regarding names.  The hubby and I are in charge of deciding on the boys names. We have stuck exclusively to their give names.  This is actually a rule of foster parenting.  No nicknames unless they are approved by the birth parents.  Artichoke and Zucchini decide on our names.  They can call us anything they are comfortable with as long as it is a nice name.  And so, our name change all.the.time!  Sometimes even within the same conversation.

But honestly, as long as the boys are comfortable I really don't care if they call me Eggplant!

  1. That's funny, because in my state, my social worker incuraged nicknames so they wouldn't be as easily recognized in public. I wouldn't be followed by a relative just because I said "Cub's" real name. But we are a confidential placement so that may have something to do with it :)

    1. It is very interesting how rules like this are different from state to state. Part of the fun of fostering, I guess!
