Weddings, Planes and Suits!

You remember when my brother finally got his act together and asked an awesome girl to deal with his stink forever?  Well if not, here's the post!

Their big day is coming up in October.  Prior to Artichoke and Zucchini, I was all "Woohoo! My brother's getting married!"  Which for those of you who know him, you know this is quite a big step!

But now?  It is a bit more complex.  Now it is more "Woohoo! My brother has awesome taste because this girl really rocks/ OMG we are now taking two kids on a plane across the country/ They are so perfect for each other/ Hmmm... is Vegas really kid friendly?/ Seriously I can't believe she wants to deal with that stank-ass forever (because he really is stinky)/ WOW plane tickets are pricey/ This wedding is going to rock/ How does nap time work on a 4 hour time change/ Little boys + Suits = The most adorable thing ever

So we have been researching plane tickets like it is our job.  Because if we don't find a good deal then I'll need a second one.  To add a fun ironic twist, Travelzoo was really an AMAZING deal on flights the night before we got the boys.  Not just a slight reduction in price, but 60% off!  But at that point things weren't 100% and we didn't know their full names until a week after they were with us.  So that makes buying plane tickets pretty hard.

I'm still pretty bitter about missing out on this deal.  So I am hell bent to find another one.  Today the hubby came across some tickets that were 30% off, which is just fabulous.  But now we are trigger shy again since we haven't gotten the a-okay from the social workers that we are allowed to bring the boys.

It is an out of state trip that requires special approval.  And Artichoke will be in kindergarten at this point, so he will miss a few days of school.  Ugh!  I'm really hoping we get in touch with the social worker soon so I don't miss another deal.

But there is good news!  I found an awesome sale and bought suits for both boys!  They should be arrive next week and I'm so excited to see the cuteness!  Hopefully there will be adorable suit pictures soon!

  1. Two things:

    1. Naps: Just do them at the normal time according to the local clock. Don't adjust. The kids' clocks will reset over night - you might have one "interesting" afternoon. Which leads to...

    2. Vegas with Kids: Not that I've taken ours, but having been there a LOT as a kid, I can tell you that today, there's WAY more stuff you can do with them.
    - Treasure Island: Daily pirate ship adventure outside (free)
    - Mirage: Volcano eruptions nightly (free)
    - Mirage: Siegfried & Roy's Secret Garden ($20/adult, $15/kid)
    - Bellagio: Fountain with music (free)
    - Venetian: Gondola Rides ($16/adult)
    - MGM Grand: Big Cat exhibit (free)
    - Mandalay Bay: Shark Reef ($18/adult, $12/kid)
    - Circus Circus: Midway (like a fairground midway)
    - Excalibur: Tournament of Kings (dinner show with jousting): $59/p
    - Your Hotel (whichever it is): Pool, Game Room, let them play with crayons on the Keno cards (they can't gamble, but they can treat it like bingo)

  2. Jeff, I'm not sure if you've seen the pirate ship show recently, but I would definitely not recommend it for kids. From what I understand, they've changed it and it didn't used to be this way. I saw it 2 months ago, and the majority of the show was slutty girls dancing and lip-synching. Someone had told us it was awful, but I didn't believe them. It really was, and I don't consider myself to be a highly critical person (It's free, can't expect much). I think it really stinks b/c it is still advertised for kids(there were a lot there), and it seems like the kind of thing that would be good for them, but I was kind of disgusted by its message. You can go by anytime, though, and see the ship that they have sitting out there. Also, the MGM Grand cat exhibit is no longer there. Excalibur did have a really big arcade area on the bottom floor w/ lots of games that might be fun. Looks like you've gotten a bunch of other good suggestions, though, so I'm sure you will have a great trip!
